APPLICATION PROCEDURE (Visiting Professor Program)

A professor of a member university of the ERDT Consortium who wishes to invite a visiting professor through the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor and Visiting Professor Program must comply with the following conditions:

1. The professor must submit an application letter addressed to ERDT Project Leader endorsing the prospective ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor. The application letter must be endorsed by the department/institute head of the professor and accompanied with the following:

  • Curriculum Vitae of the prospective Visiting Professor;
  • Line Item Budget covering the allowable entitlements; and
  • Schedule of Activities during the visit.

2. The FSSC (or equivalent body) shall evaluate the merit of the application. If disapproved, the ERDT Project Leader shall notify the professor. If initially approved, the application will be endorsed by the ERDT Project Leader to the ERDT Program Leader.

3. The ERDT Program Leader shall endorse the application to DOST-SEI for review and if found in order, they will endorse the application to DOST Secretary through the Undersecretary for final approval.

4. The professor will be informed in writing of the final result of the application.

5. Upon approval, the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor, host professor, ERDT Program Leader, ERDT Project Leader, and University head shall sign the Terms of Reference. The Terms of Reference contains the following information: 

  • Minimum qualifications of the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor;
  • Duration of stay and schedule of activities of the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor;
  • Expectations of the host unit from the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor; and
  • Responsibilities of both ERDT Consortium University and ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor.

Host professors are highly advised to apply to the program at least three (3) months prior to the scheduled visit of the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor.

Expected Activities of the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor and Visiting Professor

The ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor and Visiting Professor are expected to conduct the following:

  1. If the duration of visit is between seven (7) and fourteen (14) days, the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor is expected to give a minimum of two (2) lectures in the ERDT Consortium University;
  2. If the duration of visit is more than two (2) weeks, the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor is expected to handle special topics classes that would benefit ERDT scholars, graduate students and possibly undergraduate engineering students of the college where the host professor is affiliated with;
  3. For ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor, he/she must present a keynote lecture in ERDT Congress or ERDT Conference; and
  4. To conduct collaborative meetings with the faculty members of the        department/institute where the host professor is affiliated with.

Responsibilities of the Host Professor

In the course of the implementation of the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor and Visiting Professor Program, the host professor must:

  • Assure proper coordination among ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor, ERDT office, and other concerned offices;
  • Assure the accomplishment of ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor’s schedule of activities;
  • Submit an accomplishment report of the conduct of the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor and Visiting Professor Program; and
  • Ensure safety and provide other needs (e.g., meals, accommodation, transportation, etc.) of the ERDT Distinguished Visiting Professor or Visiting Professor that are not covered by the allowable entitlements.

Responsibilities of the Visiting Professor

  • Conduct lectures in any of the University in the ERDT Consortium; and
  • Submit an accomplish report.
